Vanilla Ink The Smiddy is located in Banff, Aberdeenshire, and we offer practising jewellers the option of individual studios pods with access to tools, equipment, knowledge and a community.

We currently have space in our INKspiration Pods in our courtyard area. These are individual studios, measuring 3m x 2m, giving you the perfect place to begin or further establish your business. These perfectly sized areas are the ideal place to grow and flourish while still being immersed in our Vanilla Ink family. They are essentially a blank canvas which you are free to fill yourself, building the wee workshop of your dreams! Fill in the form and make it happen!

Our studios are easily accessible via public transport, we are on the main 35 bus route.

On occasions, we can be full and space in our studios may take a while to become available. There is no harm in putting your name down now if you are a student for example. If space comes up and you’re not ready you can simply decline or defer.

annual membership

ONLY £75.00* PER YEAR

The Smiddy Membership is a yearly membership that grants you access to Vanilla Ink The Smiddy during work hours (according to availability), and outwith class time. Whether you want to use the rolling mill for a morning or hire a bench, this low-cost membership allows you to access the space and specialised equipment at a time to suit you.

Once you are a Member, you can pick and choose suitable times to hire space within the Smiddy (according to availability) to develop your own work within our beautiful workshop in Banff.

*The booking fees for Members are:

Hourly - £7

An hour in Vanilla Ink will give you access to our fully-equipped studios if you need things done in a rush

Half day - £18

A half day is plenty of time to finish that project you've been working on or to begin a new one!

Full Day - £36

The best use of your time at The Smiddy! Come on and hang out with us for a full day!

Please note that The Smiddy Membership is only granted to those with jewellery experience, this means working to at least Level Two under the guidance of Vanilla Ink or another jewellery class provider.

As a Member, you are also granted a 10% discount on all Smiddy classes!
