Make a Recycled Silver Stamped Charm Pendant

  • Vanilla Ink The Smiddy Old Market Place Banff, Scotland, United Kingdom (map)

Give me the info…

Melting, hammering, soldering and stamping! Have I missed out on any other super cool jewellery-making techniques? I think not! Well, you get to do them all in this amazing two-hour class! Yes, all this in TWO hours!

We will show you the techniques required to Make a Silver Charm. Yup, that’s right… you’ll get the chance to learn to make a beautiful and personalised charm that you can take home with you at the end of the session.

Can I do this class?

This is an entry-level class, so it’s perfect for complete beginners. Don’t worry if you’ve never done anything like this before, this is what Taster Sessions are for! And if you have made stuff before, then you’ll still have an absolutely awesome time!

What happens?

We start off by melting down some silver and turning it into a nugget of beautiful recycled silver. We then take our ball of silver and hammer it flat! This gives us a perfectly flat surface to hammer it once again, but this time using lettering (or number) steel punches!

This is when you let your imagination run wild and personalise it to your heart’s content! Want to stamp a date? A name? An initial? A short mantra or movie reference? The sky is the limit! Well … the size of your charm is the limit!

Once your charm is complete we then go back to playing with fire and solder a jump ring to it, so that we can then hang it on a lovely silver chain!

Do I need to bring anything?

Everyone will have their own bench with access to all the tools and materials required to make their pieces. You won’t need anything else as we provide the equipment needed for this session.

Please wear long hair tied up [or bring something to do so], don’t wear open-toed shoes and keep loose-fitting clothing to a minimum.

If you need glasses to see things close up, please bring them with you. Making jewellery is fiddly!

Who is teaching me?

Our Taster Sessions are taught by one of our excellent tutors. At night they sleep upside down to ensure their brains receive enough blood to teach you to the best of their abilities.
