Yep, welcome to our brand new Masterclasses! Top-class content delivered by the experts, designed with people of your skill level in mind. Yes, you! We understand that not everyone through our doors is a professional jeweller, so our Masterclass weekends are tailored specifically for everyone and anyone. Yes, you will have needed to have completed a few classes to a certain level, but don’t feel like these are not for you, because they ARE! If you are unsure about booking, just get in touch and we can let you know.

Tell me about it

Immerse yourself in the timeless craft of chasing during this hands-on weekend masterclass, taught by our visiting tutor Alan Baillie. This specialist technique involves using small, shaped punches and a hammer to create intricate patterns and textures on the surface of metal. Across two days, you’ll work in silver to design and craft a unique pendant, learning how to add depth and detail through careful handwork.

What to expect

Throughout the weekend, you’ll be guided through the essential steps of chasing—from transferring your design to metal to refining delicate surface textures. You’ll also learn basic soldering techniques to complete your pendant, though the main focus will be on mastering the art of chasing.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a one-of-a-kind silver pendant showcasing your newly developed skills.

What you’ll learn

  • The fundamentals of chasing—marking, shaping, and texturing metal using punches and hammers

  • How to design and create a pendant using traditional chasing techniques

  • An introduction to soldering to assemble and finish your piece

  • Surface finishing techniques to give your pendant a polished, professional look

Who is this for?

This workshop is perfect for both beginners and experienced makers. Whether you’re new to jewellery-making or want to expand your skillset, you’ll gain hands-on experience and leave with a unique silver piece crafted by you.

What’s Included:

  • All materials, including silver

  • Personal workbench and access to specialist chasing tools

  • Expert tuition and support throughout the weekend
