You’ve come to the right place.
Tell me about it
Want to learn the art of silversmithing? You’ve come to the right place! Welcome to our new look introductory course. Our six-week block will allow you to learn the basics of making objects and vessels in consecutive weekly classes that each last three hours. The course caters for the straight-up novice, completely new to the industry and ready to begin their silversmithing journey. Within this class, you will learn about the tools required for manipulating metal to turn it into objects as well as being shown how to use them in a safe and proper manner. You’ll be briefed on the techniques that are needed to get you through the beginnings of silversmith making.
This course introduces you to the basics of silversmithing across six weeks. You will learn three techniques that are each delivered across two sessions. These techniques will introduce you to basic metal work, including torch work and hammering. The skills you learn in this course are fundamental to object making and once mastered can be built to further your silversmithing journey.
After completing this course, we recommend taking some time to really practice and master the techniques by continuing your practice in our Freestyle Sessions. These sessions are tutor supported to allow you to practice with continued guidance as well as talking through individual projects and designs. Once you have found your silversmithing feet then step into Further Silversmithing, or try your hand at a one of our silversmithing Masterclass sessions throughout the year.

We will email you our manual ahead of the class, please bring this digitally or printed out. Also a sketchbook or something for taking notes etc.
You don’t need to bring anything with you as we will provide all the equipment needed plus the materials for the entire six weeks. Everyone will have their own bench with access to all the tools required to learn silversmithing.
Please wear long hair tied up [or bring something to do so], don’t wear open-toed shoes and keep loose-fitting clothing to a minimum.
If you need glasses to see things close up, please bring them with you. Making jewellery is fiddly!
